Branch Awards

Redditch & Bromsgrove CAMRA branch makes several awards throughout the year to identify those pubs and clubs within our area that demonstrate the best in serving and promoting Real Ale, Cider and Perry.

The awards that we currently make are as follows:

Pub of the Year
This is our ultimate award for pubs in our area. CAMRA members are invited to nominate what they feel have been our best pubs over the previous year and then, following a vote, the top pubs are then judged against a standard set of criteria, with the top scoring pub receiving the title of Pub of the Year. Because this is our branch’s flagship award we do insist that a pub has to satisfy specific criteria to be considered for the award, they are

  1. the pub has to have been open for at least 6 months before the vote is taken
  2. it must have either been included in the current edition of the Good Beer Guide or have been shortlisted for the next edition.

Club of the Year
This is the ultimate award for clubs in our area. As with the Pub of the Year it is awarded following nomination and judging by members of the branch.

The winners of Pub of the Year and Club of the Year also go through to be considered in CAMRA’s Regional and National Pub of the Year competitions.

Pub of the Season
This can be awarded up to 4 times a year and is awarded to a pub that branch members feel has made a particular effort in promoting and extolling the virtues of real ale. It is meant to encourage and promote pubs that are going above and beyond in the cause of real ale and is not subject to the criteria agreed for the Pub of the Year award.

Cider Pub of the Year
This is an award for the pub that branch members believe has made a special effort in supporting and selling real cider and perry over the last year. To qualify the pub must be selling real cider and perry in line with CAMRA’s definition, on a regular basis.
